Bohunice V2 Nuclear Power Plant

Characteristic - Bohunice V2 Nuclear Power Plant

The plant Atómové elektrárne Bohunice is located in Western Slovakia, near the town of Trnava. Electricity is generated here in two 440 MW units that had gradually been connected to the power network over the period between 1984 and 1985. In the construction of the nuclear power plant V2 the world´s most widespread concept of pressurised water reactors was adopted and the Soviet-era design WWER 440 used.

At Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., the nuclear power plant V2 in Jaslovské Bohunice rank among the most reliable and cost-effective electricity generation sources.

Upon development of the system for central heat supply to the town of Trnava from Atómové elektrárne Bohunice, V2 has switched to co-generation. Also part of this system is a heat feeder line commissioned in 1987. Commissioned in 1997, the heat feeder line to Leopoldov and Hlohovec is also designed by means of a branch from the line part of the Trnava heat feeder line.
