Last NPP outage this year scheduled for September
Mochovce NPP Unit 2 will be shut down in September. Outages and partial fuel replacement processes in the reactor are a standard part of each plant's life cycle and are performed as a long-term planned process. All work is carried out in compliance with the strictest safety requirements.
So far in 2019, Slovenské elektrárne completed general overhauls at hree nuclear units. The company started the outage marathon in April 2019 at Mochovce NPP Unit 1. In addition to standard activities it also completed the work on seismic reinforcement of the power plant which took several years to complete and which could only be performed during the outage. It was completed by 28 April, 2019.
Next outage took place in Bohunice NPP in May. The main works in Unit 4 included the general overhaul of the low-pressure turbine generator part, the inspection of the tubes in two of the six steam generators, as well as the extended general overhaul of one of the three diesel generators in the unit.
One month after the workd at Bohunice NPP Unit 4, Slovenské elektrárne also completed the outage at Unit 3. Until 15 July, 2019, the company has completed more than three thousand jobs which required precise planning and excellent collaboration between the teams. The outage also included the general overhaul of one of the six steam generators, including the pipework connecting it to the reactor, and the overhaul of one of the three diesel generators.
Thus, the last general outage remaining in 2019 is the general overhaul at Mochovce NPP Unit 2 which is scheduled for September.
