Mochovce NPP Unit 3: New commissioning milestone
Slovenské elektrárne, an Enel Group company, achieved a new significant milestone in commissioning the unit 3 of Mochovce nuclear power plant, with the launch of real-time remote handling system of the unit‘s control room. The power plant’s brain, as the unit’s control centre is called, was energised in autumn 2015.
Slovenské elektrárne is successfully continuing the commissioning of the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3. At the end of February 2016, for the first time in the history of Mochovce 3 & 4 construction, unit 3 control room started real-time remote handling of equipment providing the power feed for internal consumption on unit 3. The launch followed tests on the main control system, control commands and signalling system.
It is now possible to remotely control components supplying power for the unit’s internal consumption, such as circuit breakers and disconnectors and receive feedback and data on the components‘ status, such as voltage on each busbar, level of inlets and outlets, volumes of power transmitted on selected nodes of the grids, and power feed for unit 3’s internal consumption.
This was the first phase of the project to launch real-time remote handling of equipment from unit 3’s control room which involved 6kV switches and tests on the 0.4kV substation remote control components. Following this first phase, Slovenské elektrárne will continue to gradually extend the real-time remote control to technology systems and components of the unit.
