Innovation

Slovenské elektrárne is working on the development of renewable energy sources in line with Enel Group's long-term plans and the global trend. Our main focus is on:

Water - with the development of small hydropower plants. The small hydropower plant Dobšiná III with an installed capacity of 0.25 MW was put into commercial operation in January 2014. The third stage of the power plant on the Dobšiná stream will enable annual savings of more than 1,900 tons of CO2 compared to coal-fired power generation.

Biomass - with co-firing in Vojany and Nováky power plants. In 2014, the total annual CO2 emission savings were 49,000 tons at Vojany and 8,500 tons at Nováky, thanks to the optimal co-firing of biomass from local sources and domestic lignite in the FK1 fluid boiler.

Photovoltaics - with two power plants in Mochovce and Vojany with a total installed capacity of 1.9 MW continue their successful commercial operation and save approximately 2,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
