Vojany Black Coal Power Plant

About power plant

Thermal power plant Vojany is situated in the Eastern Slovakia in the district of Michalovce in the proximity of the Slovak-Ukrainian border. It ceased operation in March 2024. After the end of electricity generation, the process of closing this power plant began. It consists of several phases, the first is securing and bringing the plant to a safe and environmentally friendly state. This will be followed by various remediation and reclamation of ecological burdens. We are currently looking for further use for the power plant area, whether it is the construction of renewable energy sources, battery storages, in the future perhaps small modular reactors, the production of green hydrogen or the use of already stored ash on the sludge bed and its further processing for construction needs. We plan to invest more than EUR 20,000,000 in these green solutions in the short term.
