Čierny Váh pumped storage power plant is Slovakia's largest pumped storage power plant and with its installed capacity also the largest hydroelectric power plant. The upper reservoir located 1160 meters above sea level has none inflow of its own. The utility provides in particular support services to the power system, including for the biggest installed unit within it. The access road to the upper reservoir of the Čierny Váh hydroelectric power plant is owned by the Lesy SR, o.z. Liptovský Hrádok. Permission for access by car or any means of transport to this road must be requested from this entity. Entry into the immediate vicinity of the upper reservoir of the Čierny Váh hydroelectric power plant is prohibited. There are prohibition signs on the ramps. Enter this area at your own risk and responsibility. We do not issue permits for entry beyond these prohibition signs (on the road body of the reservoir) for safety reasons.
