Characteristic - Nuclear Power Plant Mochovce
In the south of Slovakia, in between the towns of Nitra and Levice, there are located four units of the Mochovce nuclear power plant featuring pressurised water reactors WWER 440/V 213 with an output of 440 MWe each. The utility´s Unit 1 has supplied electricity to the network since the summer of 1998, as has Unit 2 since the late 1999. Completion of Units 3 and 4 has temporarily been suspended. Each SE-EMO unit generates about 3,000 MWh of electricity annually, which covers nearly 10% of Slovakia´s electricity demand.
The Mochovce units rank among the newest nuclear blocks WWER 440/V 213 and benefit from all of the improvements already made at the plant. International expert teams have agreed that, once the safety measures are in place, the plant complies with all the international standards and nuclear safety levels, assessing its reliability as extremely high.
